About us:

The Greenwich baths are a Council owned, privately run harbour side enclosed beach. A great place for families seeking a fun, safe and positive environment.  It is a lap swimmers delight and a sun bakers paradise. All our staff are fully qualified and experienced lifeguards

On our first trip to Koh Lanta we discovered that the local bar collected their tip money and donated it to the local school to feed the school children and provide necessary instruments for their learning.

Ko Lanta is two beautiful islands off the west coast of Southern Thailand and just a few years ago a tsunami devastated these shores. Most of the children here are from poor families and the tsunami made their situation much worse.

Moved by the generosity of the staff at the ‘Why Not Bar’ we decided that when we returned to Australia we would do the same. We did and returned with $275 and put on a huge lunch for 110 school children. We endeavor to collect money again throughout the summer season and return to Koh Lanta, this time we hope to purchase educational books to help the children learn English."

Do’s Don’ts & Reasons Why (part1)

We are an alcohol free zone and we’ll get into all sorts of trouble if something happens while alcohol is present (not to mention insurance) so please respect this rule.

We also are forbidden from having glass in the baths, as you can imagine it can be dangerous to all patrons as most are barefoot.

We are a smoke free facility (most places are these days) as we have many young children about and butts can harm marine life.

The rock wall (particularly on the eastern side of the baths) can have sharp oyster shells that can slice feet and at times need surgery! So for safety’s sake keep children off the rocks. On a positive note, the presence of Oysters indicates clean water.

Do’s Don’ts & Reasons Why (part2)

All children should be properly supervised in the water, particularly toddlers to 5years old. It only takes 20 seconds for a child to drown, as long as it takes you to read up until the red highlighted word! By all means relax on a sun lounge but don’t forget your child!

Sand throwing, although seemingly harmless can cause extreme pain if in your eye and can take up to 2 days to expel!

No toilet training at Greenwich Baths as it’s a public swimming area and we don’t want any accidents. Please use toilets! All children must wear appropriate swimwear, all the time.

So let’s watch our kids to keep them out of danger and everyone can enjoy their day

Thank-you.
